What to expect on this route
Sin La is a high mountain pass in the eastern Kumaon Himalaya, linking the remote landscapes of Vyas and Darma through serious high-altitude terrain.
This is not a fixed-date casual trek. Snow, permits, local administration instructions and group experience determine whether the crossing is practical.
Day-wise itinerary
The route, day by day
Kathgodam to Dharchula
Long drive through Kumaon to Dharchula and overnight stay.
Dharchula – Najang – Bundi
Drive to the trekking point and walk through the Malpa/Budi sector.
Bundi to Gunji
Climb through Chhiyalake and Garbyang to Gunji; permit checks apply in this border area.
Gunji to Kuti
Trek through Vyas Valley to Kuti village.
Kuti to Jolingkong
Continue to the Adi Kailash/Jolingkong sector for the high camp.
Jolingkong acclimatisation
A lighter day for Parvati Sarovar/Gauri Kund exploration and acclimatisation.
Jolingkong – Sin La – Bidang
Very early start for the high Sin La crossing, then descend into the Darma side towards Bidang.
Bidang – Dantu – Dharchula
Trek to Dantu and continue by road to Dharchula.
Dharchula to Kathgodam
Drive back to Kathgodam for onward travel.
