About the trek
What to expect on this route
Chhipla Kedar is one of eastern Kumaon’s distinctive sacred trekking routes. From the Dharchula–Tawaghat side, the trail climbs through remote camps into high Himalayan terrain.
The journey is best treated as a field expedition: local access, medical readiness, weather and the condition of high camps are checked before the route is confirmed.
Day-wise itinerary
The route, day by day
Kathgodam/Haldwani to Dharchula
Meet the Alpine Trek team and drive to Dharchula for route briefing and overnight stay.
Dharchula – Tawaghat – Bunga
After medical checks, drive to Tawaghat and begin the trek to the Bunga camp via Khela.
Bunga to Pinkhu / Tilargarhi
Climb to the higher camp at roughly 12,000 ft; overnight in camp.
Pinkhu to Talagarh
Continue to Talagarh, passing the Brahmkund sector and high-altitude flora zones.
Talagarh to Pataudkund
A demanding high-altitude day via the Chhipla/Kakraulkund landscape to Pataudkund.
Pataudkund to Girchi
Trek across remote high country to the Girchi camp.
Girchi to Duku
Descend through forested terrain towards Duku, with local sacred sites along the route.
Return to Haldwani
Drive back through Pithoragarh and Kumaon to Haldwani/Kathgodam.
